With regard to the Korean automotive market,
Korea has a car manufacturer ranked in the top 5 in the world. In addition, Korea has a reputation
as a global sourcing country with high technical skills and a major manufacturer of automobile components.
For instance, Germany’s Daimler AG (Mercedes Benz) plans to participate in KOAASHOW 2015 as a large
booth, organizing a large-scale procurement team, to secure sourcing of Korean suppliers of automobile
components. 
 
Moreover, Hyundai/Kia Automobile departed from the established/existing structure of exclusive supplier
relationship with regard to automobile components. Hyundai/Kia Automobile supported entrance into new
international markets by their suppliers of automobile components. Its HQs also expanded global sourcing
to automobile components manufactured by competitive foreign suppliers. As a consequence, many
Chinese suppliers of automobile components, which are equipped with the technical skills, as well as
competitive prices, are expected to enter into the Korean market very soon.
