One of the most critical subjects in the current global automotive industries is weight reduction, which is essential for fuel efficiency. Korea is no exception on this subject and has been investigating various solutions. The Korean automotive industries are very interested in applying carbon composite materials to automotive parts.
 
Carbon composites are very important for weight reduction and is indispensable for the development of next generation automobiles. To facilitate more active development of carbon composite components, the Korea Industrial Complex Corp. Ulsan Branch Office is planning to promote for two years a Theme Cluster Projects, called 'The Project for Developing Auto Parts of Carbon Composite for Next Generation Automotive Industry.'
 
As a marketing activity for this project, we will operate a pavilion at KOAASHOW for three days starting from Oct. 28, 2014. The exhibitors at our pavilion will be Webasto Donghee Co., Ltd. (main project leader), Dongkook Ind.Co.,Ltd, LOTTE CHEMICAL, SAMWOO ENTERPRISE Co., Ltd., KUM KWANG HI-TECH CO.,LTD., LSDigital Inc, HanGuk Mold Co.,Ltd, NAJAI Co., Ltd., SIS Corporation, DAE SUNG INC, SHIN YOUNG CO., Ltd., and MYUNGHWA IND,.CO.,LTD. We are expecting many visitors from Korea and abroad.
 
“This project is a very innovative project based on the technical corporation and value chain among team members to achieve common goals, such as founding of new growth engine and technology, enabling big changes in the Korean automotive components industries,” says a officer at the Korea Industrial Complex Corp. Ulsan Branch Office.

Some important participants of this project are Webasto Donghee Co., Ltd., the project leader and a well-known sunroof manufacturer, Korean Foundation for Quality, which is responsible for non R&D education, training, technical information investigation, AIN Global Foundation, which is responsible for all the marketing, and LSDigital Inc, which is responsible for Material Information System development and application.
 
In addition, various organizations, such as KIMS (supporting technical consulting, aiding advanced research), UNIST(supporting material analysis, CAE), and Ulsan Technopark (supporting components analysis, testing and evaluation) are assisting with this project in order to achieve high project outcome.
